Hike 1 – Tucud
3:30 hours duration starting in the village of Ribeira Brava to know its history and details.
Endemic plants, fruit plants, are some of Nicholas agriculture.
Possibility to visit the distillery of grogue.
Ends on Queimadas.

Hike 2 – Ribeira Prata
4:30 duration. Starts at Pico Agudo. Ends at Ribeira Prata.
250 meters ascent / descent to 700 meters to find the pure tradition of Sao Nicolau, area without electricity and transportation, isolated, mountainous valley, agriculture, production of many mangos. Existence of two factories of liquor.

Hike 3 – Maripede
Between 4:30 to 5:30 hours duration included photo stop. Started at Meripede, passing Palhal de Cima, Hortela, Ribeira dos Calhaus.
Maripede: around the natural park of Monte Gordo, dry part in the start but green forward.
Palhal Cima: amazing contrast of mountains. Following Hortela goes up Ribeira dos Calhaus (agricultural area abandoned for lack of water and road access, water was reborn after 2009).
Picnic on the riverside boulders.
After the riverside boulders rises to Monte Gordo Natural Park 350 meters away. Existence of a tropical forest with several species of endemic birds and plants unique to this area. Always with clouds. Then descends to Cachaço where the tour ends.

Hike 4 – Ribeira Funda
Starts at Pico Agudo and ends at Estancia de Bras. 5:30 to 6:00 hours of travel.
Some difficult access, we notice a lot of poverty in this area.
Spectacular scenery, totally virgin, people basically live of the support of family migrants. Agricultural zone.
Covoada: Dramatic Landscape, high and green area.
This tour ends in Ribeira Funda. Area where there is only one inhabitant, sea views, walk up to Estancia de Bras, which picks up transport to Residential.

Hike 5  – Chã de Norte/Salto
5 hours Hiking. These are two walks. Starts at Cha de Norte and ends at Salto.
In the beginning it is noted dry desert landscape with a volcano crater. Zone abandoned because of drought. Opportunity to view various animals: cows and goats.
Walk Easy but a bit harsh on the route of descent to jump. Transportation to Juncalinho where there is a natural pool. Then it is the path to Residential.

Hike 6 – Salto
East side, beginning at Salto and walking up Jalunga.
10 km hiking. Duration approximately 5:00 hours.
Looking north, south view, sea on both sides. Hillside, quiet and easy route.

Hike 7 - Cachaço / Monte Gordo / Ribeira dos Calhaus / Praia Branca
Duration 4:30 hours. Started at Cachaço, after natural park of Monte Gordo, past the abandoned district of Ribeira dos Calhaus, ending at Praia Branca.
Alternatives: end of Praia Branca (4:30 hours duration) or in Ribeira da Prata (5:00 hours duration).
Praia Branca: living area mostly emigration, strong traditional feast: St. John, was born the music "nha sodade of Sao Nicolau" written by Armando Soares Severino. Land where the famous musician / composer Paulino Vieira was born.

Hike 8  – Cabeçalinho/Preguiça
Duration 4:00 hours. Overlooking the crater near the airport.
Ends at Preguiçaa, where there is the 2nd port of Sao Nicolau.
