A little about the island
The island of Sao Nicolau with 346 km2 and 13,536
inhabitants shows the result of a very active volcanic past. Monte Gordo
with 1304 m is the highest point of the island, an excellent choice for
those who like a brave walk, trekking or adventure.
The island, with agricultural potential, began by having as main export
coffee, this came to be replaced by sugar cane. [
